The Neighborhood Tree Planting Project
One of several community based programs that we offer, our Neighborhood Tree Planting Project is the cornerstone of the work we do.
How does one organize a neighborhood planting?
If you would like Replant New Orleans to help you plant trees in your neighborhood, start here:
-
Be a “block captain” and talk to your neighbors about planting trees – gather interest and find out how many trees are wanted. (Team up with others who are excited and motivated and this step will be a lot more fun.)
-
E-mail or call us and let us know that you’re interested in having us come to your neighborhood to plant trees. We’ll set up a time to come out there and make sure that the planting spaces are tree-ready. If you want to plant on city property we will help you get the space approved as long as someone is willing to take care of the new trees for one year.
-
Once all of the tree sites have been approved, we’ll set a day with you and your neighbors to come out to plant trees – absolutely free of charge.
What kinds of trees are available?
Presently these trees are available through Replant New Orleans: Live Oak, Magnolia, Japanese Magnolia, Red Maple, Crepe Myrtle, Chinese Pistachio, Cypress, Pear, Fig, Orange, Lemon, Lime, Satsuma, Kumquat, and Grapefruit.
If you have a particular tree in mind that is not on this list, e-mail us and we will check on its availability.
