Hello everyone!
If you’d like to volunteer for either our Neighborhood Tree Planting Project, our upcoming Compost Cooperatives, or any of our other events or community projects, please send us an e-mail at: trees@replantneworleans.org.
What you’ll need for planting trees: moderate strength to lift and carry the saplings, and basic understanding of how to operate a shovel or a pickaxe. We’ll teach you the rest, so don’t worry if you’ve never planted a tree before.
What you’ll need to help with composting: an appreciation for decomposition, and familiarity with pitchforks. If you’d just like to learn more about compost, feel free to send us an e-mail and we’ll be happy to answer your questions.
Safety guidelines
While working with Replant New Orleans either planting trees or composting, we recommend that volunteers follow these common-sense safety rules:
- Wear thick-soled shoes.
- During peak sunlight hours apply sunscreen to exposed skin.
- Bring water and stay hydrated.
- Pay attention to your body and take breaks as often as necessary.
- Wash hands with soap and water before eating or touching your face.
Professional volunteers
Because we are operating a small organization, we can always use the assistance of volunteers with professional skills. Currently our needs include: marketing and public relations, event planning, accounting, and graphic design. If you would like to volunteer with Replant New Orleans and have experience in any of these fields, we would greatly appreciate your services.
Please continue to check our website for more details on volunteer opportunities!
